Global South Dialogue: Brazil's Role in a Changing World Order
On 28 February 2025, the London Office of the Andalus Committee had the honor of hosting a discussion with H.E. Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, Ambassador of Brazil to the UK and former Foreign Minister, in partnership with the Embassy of Brazil in London.
As part of the Andalus Global South Dialogue series, this conversation, moderated by Azzedine Lahlou, explored the pillars and priorities of Brazilian diplomacy, its commitment to South-South cooperation, its extension to South-North-South triangular relations, the role of BRICS+, and Brazil’s proposals for reforming the international order. The discussion was enriched by insightful contributions from participants, who raised key questions on Brazil’s role in the latest COP, the importance of good neighborly relations in diplomacy, and strategies to combat organized crime in Latin America. On the sidelines of the event, we had the privilege of presenting our 2024 Annual Report on Arab–Latin American Cooperation to Ambassador Patriota.
A huge thank you to His Excellency, the embassy staff, and all attendees for their time, engagement, and valuable insights in deepening our understanding of emerging countries' perspectives. We look forward to welcoming many of you to our upcoming events—stay tuned!
